Informed by the historic uses of pots, how stories are told, and the way moments in time are documented through vase paintings. Chloë’s overall theme of practice is storytelling and narrative through illustrating the mundanity of everyday life in a whimsical and playful style. The focal point of her prints are cats, juxtaposed with colour and imagery retrieved directly from those found on typical British seaside holidays. The designs have historic connotations inspired by research into the use of ceramics, and 18th century ‘Toile de Jouy’, which coincide the notion of narrative.
