The living room

Project 3: The mall is my living room (co-existing). Since Funan co-living is located in the mall, using the layout to allow the resident of the co-living to venture out and use the entire mall as its living room, wardrobegamesdining to workliveplay.

project 3: Co-living- using the idea of IKEA showroom, as a living space for my co-living where everyone is able to mingle and live together and experience a different experience of co-living.

This project started by questioning the things around me. Why do we need to build things in certain ways? And questioning the boundaries of how design can be elevated in the future for its purpose as many malls have less crowd and start to shut down because of focusing on the wrong aspect, for instance, a mall’s main function is retail-a content that people visit and not for the architecture or decorative elements of the mall. Hence, I selected Funan shopping mall as my site. It was a phenomenon when the idea of co-living started, but nobody knows it exists after much interviews with friends who are not in the interior/architecture industry. My project aims to explore the boundaries of how open a mall can be with the content of co-living co-existing with the mall elements.
